Rest in Peace, "Mama" Blackie!
In May 2023, Blackie Chard adopted 3 baby chicks. When we put them under her in the middle of the night, she immediately accepted them as her own and raised them dedicatedly for weeks. Kirin, Lucy, and Una are still a part of our flock, but sadly, "Mama" Blackie died of natural causes in spring of 2026 (at the ripe age of 6 years old).

Our oldest 3 hens (our "Covid chicks") were born in March 2020. We got our next generation in 2023, and the youngest bunch in 2024.
